CIAC’s U14 team has achieved great success over the past month! Building on the tireless efforts of the club captain, secretary, committees, volunteers, coaches and parents our U14 team has reached the U14 Munster Junior plate final. The first time since the 1980's that CIAC has a junior team represented on finals day.
Their 2018 Munster Junior Cup endeavors started off with an away challenge against Ballinlough B, in which they were defeated 2-3 despite their best efforts and a well-played, tight mixed doubles match.
Not all was lost though as our 2 boys and 2 girls went on to enter the plate side of the event.
Such was the Corkonian welcome that they decided to pay a visit to scenic Lower Aghada where they picked up a 3-2 win, with 2 gripping 3-sets doubles matches, and then on to Ballinlough A for the semi final. This thrilling fixture went down to the last set of the last match with our girls doubles of Mia and Rachel showing great determination to make it through against a very good opposition team.
After tireless driving and support from the mums, lunches from O’Driscoll’s, a fleeting visit through Middleton, good company, lots of great tennis and beaming smiles from both parents and players, please join us in congratulating Mia, Rachel, Hugh, Sean and Dillan for reaching the finals and in wishing them the best of luck against Limerick Lawn this Sunday 21st of October in St Anne’s, Waterford.
